Human Error

"All human error or wrongdoing is involuntary for man can only choose what he believes at the time to be a good that will bring happiness. His only error is that he cannot discern the real good from the illusory good."  Socrates ...in truth,  OdiliaCarmen

You Are Not Your Eyes

"Those who have reached their arms into emptiness are no longer concerned with lies and truth, with mind and soul, or which side of the bed they rose from. If you are still struggling to understand, you are not there. You offer your soul to one who says, “Take it to the other side.” You’re on neither side, yet those who love you see you on one side or the other. You say Illa, “only God,” then your hungry eyes see you’re in “nothing,” La You’re an artist who paints both with existence and non. Shams could help you see who you are, but remember, You are not your eyes." from " The Book of Love " by Jalāl ad-Dīn Mohammad Rūmī ...in truth,  OdiliaCarmen

Show No Partiality

"TEACHER," THEY SAID, "WE KNOW THAT YOU SPEAK AND TEACH RIGHTLY, AND SHOW NO PARTIALITY." -LUKE 20:21 " Look at your life and see how you have filled its emptiness with people. As a result they have a stranglehold on you. See how they control your behaviour by their approval and disapproval. They hold the power to ease your loneliness with their company, to send your spirits soaring with their praise, to bring you down to the depths with their criticism and rejection. Take a look at yourself spending almost every waking minute of your day placating and pleasing people, whether they are living or dead. You live by their norms, conform to their standards, seek their company, desire their love, dread their ridicule, long for their applause, meekly submit to the guilt they lay upon you; you are terrified to go against the fashion in the way you dress or speak or act or even think. And observe how even when you control them you depend on them and are enslaved by t

The Medal

"A mother could not get her son to come home before sunset. So, she told him that the road to their house was haunted by ghosts who come out after dusk. By the time the boy grew up he was so afraid of ghosts that he refused to run errands at night. So she gave him a medal and taught him that it would protect him. Bad religion gives him faith in the medal. Good religion gets him to see that ghosts do not exist." from the book  "Song Of The Bird"  by  Anthony de Mello ...in truth,  OdiliaCarmen

The Unseen

"Everyone sees the unseen in proportion to the clarity of the heart, and that depends upon how much one has polished it. Whoever has polished it more, sees more – more unseen forms become manifest."   Maulana Rumi ...in truth,  OdiliaCarmen

The Monster In The River

"The village priest was distracted at his prayer by the children. To get rid of them he said, “Hurry to the river and you will see a monster breathing fire through his nostrils.”  Soon the whole village had heard of this monstrous apparition and was rushing to the river. The priest too joined the crowd. As he panted his way through four solid miles, he kept saying to himself, “It is true I invented the story. But you never can tell I”  A good way to believe in the gods we have created is to convince others of their existence."   from the book  "Song Of The Bird"  by  Anthony de Mello ...in truth,  OdiliaCarmen

The Guru`s Cat

"Each time the guru sat for worship with his students the ashram cat would come in to distract them, so he ordered them to tie it when the ashram was at prayer. After the guru died the cat continued to be tied at worship time. And when the cat expired, another cat was brought into the ashram to make sure that the guru’s orders were faithfully observed at worship time. Centuries passed and learned treatises were written by the guru’s scholarly disciples on the liturgical significance of tying up a cat while worship is performed."   from the book " Song Of The Bird " by Anthony de Mello ...in truth,  OdiliaCarmen

True Healing

We are never truly healed until we understand that we were never wounded in the first place. ...in truth,  OdiliaCarmen

The Contented Fisherman

" The industrialist was horrified to find the fisherman lying beside his boat, smoking a pipe.  “Why aren’t you out fishing?” said the industrialist.  “Because I have caught enough fish for the day.”  “Why don’t you catch some more?”  “What would I do with it?”  “Earn more money. Then you could have a motor fixed to your boat and go into deeper waters and catch more fish. Thai would bring you money to buy nylon nets, so more fish, more money. Soon you would have enough to buy two boats... even a fleet of boots. Then you could be rich like me.”  “What would I do then?”  “Then you could really enjoy life.”  “What do you think I am doing now?”  Which would you rather have: a fortune or a capacity for enjoyment?" from the book  "Song Of The Bird"  by  Anthony de Mello ...in truth,  OdiliaCarmen

The Monster In Our Closet

One may think it's the unmet needs and desires the cause of broken relationships. And we are tired and mostly unwilling to satisfy someone else's needs before or in the detriment of our own. Needs and desires make us walk and even run on purpose at times. But fears.. Oh my! We hide, run, jump, climb, walk on bodies... whatever is needed. To escape our fears. And what are fears anyway? Well, unintegrated experiences from or since early childhood. Things we haven`t completely understood that hurt and frightened us and that we never want to repeat. But guess what? They will be repeated on and on and on... Because we live in their shadows. We project from them and perceive through them. We want to escape them so badly that anything as close as a resemblance will trigger us into great discomfort and stress. Say, one is afraid of spiders for example... God forbid you joke with "a spider on you!" unless you want one to have a heart attack o

The Answer Will Come When You Are Ready To Listen

Ever wonder why even the almighty, seemingly careless, leaves you into the oblivion of most excruciating pain? Why though you scream from the depth of your being for a bit of light you are left into complete darkness? It`s because you are not truly willing! To listen! You don`t seek for THE answer. Yo seek for a solution of your own construction. Your request is for the problem to stop so that your pain may go away. But what you aren`t ready to be shown is that YOU are THE problem! You are wounded by your own perceptions of right and wrong! What must or musn`t be! You beg for light while you hold on darkness in the clench of your teeth. You cling to pain and keep on agonizing into your own delusion. Expanding darkness by extending faults and blames to all those, human and gods alike, that seem unwilling to help you. And you keep on reasoning... with your own limited mind, over how entitled you are to happiness. But.. are you really? Well, let me tel

Awakening Through The Unawakened

Unfortunately we are not yet at that level. It takes hard work to get there. And what would be the purpose of everything if not to help? Plants heal humans. Humans help and take care of the planet. We exchange ideas. We are connected. There is nothing unfortunate. We are heading in the "good" direction exactly because of everything that "seems" unfortunate around us. Because all that "looks" unfortunate makes us aware. Makes us desire to thrive for "another level". So right about that! And it is not hard work and effort that we need. But this very awareness that happens naturally. An awareness that, if we do not explore by free will, we are forced into by all that we experience. N ot, for you not. What about those millions that did not even wake up?? Yes. But no matter that! Do not forget! You become, you experience, you create what you pay attention to. Forget what isn`t. Only look upon what can be.  What can be will be!  Those millions work ver
